Democracy Now! reports on expanding ICE detention and allegations of abuse inside immigration facilities, including physical violence, pepper spray use, and electric shocks against detainees. Congressmember Adelita Grijalva of Arizona, who personally visited two ICE jails, says detainees described serious mistreatment, medical neglect, undrinkable water, and significant weight loss. At the time of the report, more than 70,000 people were held in ICE custody across the country. Grijalva called for shutting down the Trump administration’s detention network.
